I came, I saw, I ate…my first EC blogger meet up

Hey there amazing humans! You may know that my blog is two months old but what you may not know is that I had a blog years back on BlogSpot. I posted a few times throughout the year and got side tracked (let’s be honest I lost confidence in myself). So when I decided to restart a blog last year I made the decision to own my content (my own domain) and own my craft (write honestly) .The most important promise to myself was to connect with other amazing people (bloggers) who look for a post in every interaction and trip (even a trip to the store).  I was lucky to be introduced to Vuvu and Eleanor. This is how I came to know about the biggest blogger meet up in the Eastern Cape.

What is the #ECMeetUp?

It is only the biggest meetup of all the bloggers in our Province. It provides a platform for networking opportunities between, bloggers, influencers and brands. This is a sister event to the Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town events.

The Venue

It was at the Fairview racecourse. I didn’t even know that Port Elizabeth had a race course, though to be honest all I knew about PE was that it was windy. So I have made a mental note to go back there and explore the mother city. Cheap flights to Port Elizabeth anyone?

The theme of the day was a day at the races and Fairview was a stunning venue and they went all out. The high tea luncheon was catered by Petronella, the sweet tooth in me had a field day. Diet for what? Diet for whom?

The Guest Speakers

Besides the delish food and goodie bags (So much of amazing goodies) there was an actual reason to this day. That of learning from more established bloggers who have been at it for much longer than us. Cue Megyn Kelly who spoke on how to establish a relationship with brands and gave us some tips for when pitching.I took several notes. Then next up was Lyle Scrittenfrom Travelstart no he did not offer all of us a free trip to Bali ( sigh) but he did speak on being a travel blogger: the value of starting small and his personal experience in being a blogger. Next up was the stunning Kirsten ( also from Travelstart) who told us of their affiliate programs available.

Meeting the other bloggers

Confession time, when I got there I was all kinds of intimidated (I know right me, the queen of spice). Then I actually spoke to some of these awesome people turns out we have the same struggles and questions for the experts. They were a lovely group of people, really helpful and easy going.

How stunning are bloggers??

Blogging is not only my passion and my source of fun but it’s a lot of work and sometimes it’s good to meet people in the same boat. I would like to thank Eleanor and Luchae for all the hours of hard work and thought that went into this event.I cannot wait for the mini meet up in November so I need to  book my flights as soon as possible.

I love blogger meet ups! It’s such a great opportunity to meet bloggers in your city. We’re having the Durban one in August, I’m looking forward to it.

What’s that lipstick you’re wearing? It suits you.

Hey Lungi, Thanks for the compliment its the Avon Hot Plum. These meet ups are a must sometimes we think we are the only ones experiencing the frustrations.
