Happy Monday! I always believe that we need motivation and inspiration but more especially on Mondays. I think too often we are our own worst enemies, we need to check that behaviour and start a process of unlearning and become our biggest cheerleaders. I then came across this quote by Ms Iyanla Vanzant.
Too often we compare ourselves to the detriment of self. This is a learned behaviour starting from our parents comparing us to our friends or their friends children. Growing up we continue with this behaviour we compare ourselves to our peers often feeling like failures if we feel like we do not have what they have. This quote reminds us that we need to be gentle with ourselves as we are sabotaging ourselves early on our journey on this thing called life.
“You are running your own race…be inspired by others but only compete against yourself”-Khaya Dlanga
We need to remember that we are all on a different journey therefore when someone wins we all win. We might see the success but we do not know the work they put in and the many failures people have had to overcome. So do not let social media fool you, people only post the pretty parts. We should envisage to be better than who we were yesterday, stop competing with others as we achieve more when we work together.Lets not close doors for others but open up another seat at the table, your biggest competitor is yourself.
