Hello dear readers, today for chooseday inspiration I want to talk about choosing you. Bare with me after this long weekend I suspect I might not be as eloquent as I would like to be. Too often we want people to be our champions, to be our sober buddies etc etc forgetting it all starts with us.
I have done a lot of lay counselling whether its for NPO, at church or various organisations. One thing I have learnt is that the person you helping needs to know that it’s their life and the choice is theirs. Your role is to hold up a mirror and they can reflect to what has led them to your couch. Too often people want other people to pull them out of their darkness, motivate them, heal them or validate their purpose. Honestly that’s problematic on too many levels, self destructive and definitely not realistic.
Yes we should support one another, encourage one another however we cannot do the work that leads to ultimate healing or the person fulfilling their life’s calling. It’s a Jungle out there you need to be ready to put in the work and fight for what you want. Nothing in life is for free and nothing that’s worth it comes easily. Thanks for your non-refundable gift that is your time. Don’t forget to subscribe ( its free) and share the link.
