Bloggers block is it even a thing? How does one get over it?

I consider myself to have a million thoughts or ideas a minute and that’s why I talk so fast cause my mouth is trying to catch up to my brain. Yet there are times I will be sitting in front of the laptop and there is no communication between my brain and fingers as in nothing, nada, dololo.

“Writer’s block is the condition of being unable to think of what to write or how to proceed with writing. Similarly bloggers block is where you cannot come up with a new blog post topic. Essentially a creative slowdown.”

Essentially at our core bloggers are writers and so yes we too suffer from writer’s block.  We make it sound sexy and call it bloggers block, yes I am redefining sexy do you have a problem with that? Didn’t think so. This horrible psychological block can last for any length of time. So today I want to help you by giving you tips that help me. I am not as vain as to think that they will necessarily help you but who knows?

Do not be so hard on yourself

I know this is much easier said than done, however too often we put ourselves under too much pressure that we need to be putting in so much work. We need to factor in that life is a pendulum and sometimes we are up and sometimes we are down the sooner you accept this, the better. So once I accept writers block is here I am like cool this is where we are, what can I do whilst I wait for the next creative plane to land?

Switch off and become a couch potato

The thing is your brain is probably tired which is why it’s not feeling inspired to create anything new so let it off the hook. Let it really switch off and catch up on some series, let it watch your guilty pleasure mind numbing reality shows. Perhaps TV is not your thing (who are you and where you from are?) read a book, go for coffee with a friend as long as your brain can focus on other things.

Get physical

Why is the 80s song let’s get physical playing in my head? Also how does the rest of the song go? Either way that’s what you need to do, get physical (not figure out the rest of the lyrics). Do yoga, go for a run, swim or gym work out, better yet go play with your children. Nothing gets the juices flowing like a great workout.

After a good night’s rest and some time away, when you get back write whatever is on your mind it doesn’t have to really to make sense or go with your current project or even make grammatical sense, just write. After a whilst your creative juices should start flowing and you can go back to being the word master you have always been.

There is no one way of curing bloggers block, one or a combination of all my tips could help.Just remember don’t be too hard on yourself, give yourself some time to breathe. As always thank your non-refundable gift that is your time, may you continue to speak your truth.

    1. Only a pleasure, glad you could relate. In all honesty I am experiencing it right now, usually I have content a month ahead . I don’t even have content for next week eeek
